In her 28+ year career, Clara Smit Esq. has won many significant cases effectuating change in society to better the rights of those who have been discriminated against, particularly the  Deaf & Hard of Hearing. As one of the first lawyers in this field, Ms. Smit has filed hundreds of discrimination cases resulting in major change in the civil rights field. Ms. Smit has won many cases  involving discrimination such as race, disability, sex and age discrimination. She has also obtained large monetary settlements and consent judgments on behalf of deaf individuals and groups, which require hospitals, courts. prisons, doctors, schools and employers to now provide effective communication access for deaf individuals.
